Volunteer at the Irish Center
WE want Irish, and more at the Irish Center in Union Station
We need volunteers to:
- Greet visitors
- Help with online genealogy lookups (it’s easy and we’ll train!)
- Sell gift shop items
- Talk about Kansas City and Irish interests
Visitors come in to visit the exhibit, use our online AncestryLibrary.com, Heritage Quest and Origins (featuring Irish, Scottish, Welsh and English records) genealogy services, and browse our resources and library. Volunteers receive free covered parking at Union Station, free printing of their own genealogy research and a fun place to be in Kansas City. You’ll enjoy music, programs, and activities at the Irish Center. Seniors looking for a place to offer service, students looking for service hours, all are welcome.
Volunteers needed for all public hours:
Wed, Thur, Fri, Sat ~ 10 am – 4 pm; Sunday ~ noon – 4 pm
Full or half days.
Contact Rachel Casey, 816-74-3848, info@irishmuseum.org,
or Don O’Malley, irishxmanom@yahoo.com
IMCC membership is not required to volunteer – although we really appreciate it!
Internships, service hours
The Irish Center can give interns a great opportunity to do hands-on work in museum programming and exhibits, nonprofit administration and fundraising, and more for credit hours. Looking for a flexible internship that lets you try our hand at everything? Call us.
Also, if you have interest in history, particularly Kansas City or Irish history, the Irish Center in Union Station is a great place for student service hours.
