Daily at the Center

Genealogy Resources

Explore your family history and heritage for free at the Irish Center using AncestryLibrary.com, and the Origins Network (a database of Irish, English, Scottish and Welsh records) online databases. Also books, magazines, forms, charts for exploring ships records, census records, Ellis Island and other immigration resources are available. Start creating your family tree! Available during normal open hours.

If you have an interest in genealogy, we need volunteers – especially on weekends – to help others explore their family history! Also, donations such as books, computers, family histories or printer paper that supports the genealogy interests is greatly appreciated. Contact info@irishmuseum.org, 816-474-3848.

Permanent exhibit “The Irish and Kansas City”

Artifacts, photos and text tell the story of the Irish journey from ancient Ireland to Kansas City’s Irish community today. Add photos

Kid’s Corner

While mom and grandpa browse the genealogy records or the exhibit, kids can be close by reading Irish storybooks, working on an Irish puzzle, coloring pages, watching Darby O’Gill and the Little People, or meeting Charlie the singing horse, who has retired to the Irish Center after many years in the Kansas City St Patrick’s Day Parade.

Irish Library

Come browse The Irish Times newspaper from Dublin, Ireland Land of Welcomes magazine, and fiction and nonfiction books from travel resources to poetry, coffee table art books to family histories, also past magazines and videos sharing and celebrating all things Irish! Have books, past magazines, videos, CDs to share? We’d love to take the donation and share the words, music and images with others. Open during regular hours.

Irish Movies

Come in and relax while watching one of our Irish scenic movies in a comfy chair, or enjoy anything from Irish Legends, Darby O’Gill and the Little People, The Elders Live at the Gem, to Nelly Don – A Stitch in Time, in the library area.

Gift Shop

Our “Wee Little Gift Shop” has Irish-themed books and CDs, mostly by local authors and musicians, IMCC t-shirts and fun things for kids.
