Irish Gaelic Language Classes
Each spring and fall. 10-week courses. Spring 2010 beginning Jan. 20, Jan. 21 – NEW DATES.
Conversational Irish, Wednesdays 6:30 pm – if you’ve made it through Irish A and B, or have other experience, it’s time to advance and have some fun! The Conversational class will take you further on the language, through conversations, literature, songs, stories and more.
Beginning Irish Gaelic A, Thursdays 6:30 pm – for anyone who would like to start on the basics of the Irish language.
Beginning Irish Gaelic B, Thursdays, 7:30 pm – for anyone who would like to build upon the basics of the Irish language, a continuation of the A class.
These classes will focus on the basic pronunciation, the culture, family and place names, and literature of the language. Students can overlap classes for extra practice and instruction. If not enough students, these classes may be combined.
Instructor Renata Henley lived in Ireland for 10 years and studied the language extensively, earning a B.A. in Celtic Studies from University of California, Berkeley, and an M. Phil. in Irish Studies from University College Dublin.
Fees - $100 for IMCC members, $130 for nonmembers (includes an individual IMCC membership) or $150 (includes a family IMCC membership)

Irish Music
Tin Whistle and Fiddle Classes by the Kansas City School of Irish Music
Each spring and fall. 10-week courses. Spring 2010 beginning Jan. 21 at 7 and 8 pm
Beginning Tinwhistle Group Class, Thursdays, 7 and 8 pm – for anyone who would like to start on the basics of this simple but iconic Irish instrument.
Fiddle, harp, bodhran and other instruments by arrangement
Instructor Turlach Boylan (All Ireland Flute Champion), Dave Agee, Doug Goodhart, Emily and other musicians.

Murder, Mystery and Mayhem!! Book Club of Irish authors meets at the Center 6:30 pm, last Tuesdays of the month, beginning Sept. 29. Free. Book list to come. Please email info@irishmuseum.org if interested.
